Ingredients:

  • 9 cups Rice Chex or Corn Chex cereal
  • 12 oz white chocolate chips or vanilla almond bark
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups yellow or white cake mix
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the dry cake mix onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes to heat-treat the flour. Let cool completely.
  2. In a microwave-safe glass bowl, combine white chocolate/almond bark and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Stir in vanilla and sea salt.
  3. Place Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl. Gently pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and fold with a rubber spatula until every piece is uniformly coated.
  4. In a large gallon-sized zip-top bag, combine the cooled heat-treated cake mix and powdered sugar. Sift if necessary to remove lumps.
  5. Transfer the chocolate-coated cereal into the bag with the powder mixture. Seal and shake vigorously until the cereal is fully coated. Add sprinkles and shake gently to distribute.
  6. Spread the puppy chow onto a baking sheet to set for 15-20 minutes before serving or storing in an airtight container.
