Ingredients:

  • 1 lb 80/20 ground chuck beef
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1 head butter lettuce
  • 1 heirloom tomato, sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced into rings

Instructions:

  1. Prep the meat. Place the 1 lb of 80/20 ground chuck into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add seasonings. Pour in the 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika.
  3. Mix gently. Use your hands to combine the ingredients just until incorporated.
  4. Form patties. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into 1/2 inch thick rounds.
  5. Indent the center. Use your thumb to make a shallow well in the middle of each patty. This prevents the burger from puffing up into a ball.
  6. Season the exterior. Sprinkle the 1 teaspoon Kosher salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper over both sides of the patties.
  7. Preheat unit. Set your air fryer to 375°F and let it run for 3 minutes until the basket is radiating heat.
  8. Arrange patties. Place the meat in the basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
  9. First cook phase. Air fry for 6 minutes.
  10. Flip and finish. Turn the patties over and cook for another 4 to 6 minutes until the exterior is deeply browned.
  11. Add cheese. Place the 4 slices of cheddar on top and cook for 30 seconds until the cheese is glossy and bubbling.
