Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 racks (3-4 lbs) baby back ribs
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce

Instructions:

  1. Remove the silvery membrane (silver skin) from the bone-side of the ribs using a butter knife and paper towel.
  2. Combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Massage the rub generously into the meat.
  3. Cut ribs into 3 or 4 smaller sections if necessary to fit comfortably in the slow cooker.
  4. Pour apple cider vinegar and water into the bottom of the slow cooker.
  5. Layer the rubbed ribs in the pot and cover with a tight lid.
  6. Cook on LOW for 8 hours until the meat begins to shrink back from the ends of the bones.
  7. Transfer the ribs to a broiler-safe pan and brush with a thick layer of BBQ sauce.
  8. Broil for 3-5 minutes until the sauce bubbles and turns a deep mahogany brown.
