Ingredients:

  • 12 oz (340g) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp (6g) orange zest
  • 1 pinch (1g) salt
  • 1 tsp (5ml) fresh lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Combine the granulated sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and salt in a medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved into the liquid.
  2. Stir in the cranberries. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 5–10 minutes until the berries burst and the sauce thickens and turns a deep, mahogany-red.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice. For a smoother consistency, use a spoon to lightly mash a few of the berries against the side of the pot.
  4. Let the sauce cool for 10 minutes to allow it to thicken significantly as it rests.
