Ingredients:
- 12 slices soft white sandwich bread
- 1/2 cup (150g) Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tbsp (45ml) whole milk
- 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp fine sea salt
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp (8g) ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp (30g) unsalted butter
Instructions:
- Remove the crusts from all 12 slices of bread using a sharp bread knife. Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice until it is approximately 1/8th inch thick.
- Spread approximately 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of Nutella in a thin strip along the bottom edge of each flattened bread slice. Roll the bread up tightly toward the clean edge to create a seal.
- In a shallow wide bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, and sea salt until well combined.
- In a separate small bowl or plate, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Melt the butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll into the egg mixture, coating all sides, and immediately place in the skillet.
- Fry the rolls for 1-2 minutes per side, turning with tongs, until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Immediately roll the hot French toast in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
