Ingredients:

  • 1 pack (12 count) Savory Butter or Whole Wheat Hawaiian Rolls
  • 6 oz part-skim mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium marinara sauce
  • 3 oz turkey pepperoni slices
  • 2 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp light butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika

Instructions:

  1. Keep the rolls connected and use a long serrated knife to slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally to create a top lid and a bottom base.
  2. Place the bottom half of the rolls into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. Layer half of the mozzarella cheese directly onto the bottom buns to create a moisture barrier. Add the turkey pepperoni slices in an even layer.
  4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the pepperoni, then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the top bun slab.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted light butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and smoked paprika.
  6. Brush half of the herb glaze over the tops of the rolls. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes. Remove the foil, brush with the remaining glaze, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.
  8. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust is a deep mahogany color.
