Ingredients:
- 1 pack (12 count) Savory Butter or Whole Wheat Hawaiian Rolls
- 6 oz part-skim mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup low-sodium marinara sauce
- 3 oz turkey pepperoni slices
- 2 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 2 tbsp light butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
Instructions:
- Keep the rolls connected and use a long serrated knife to slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally to create a top lid and a bottom base.
- Place the bottom half of the rolls into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer half of the mozzarella cheese directly onto the bottom buns to create a moisture barrier. Add the turkey pepperoni slices in an even layer.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the pepperoni, then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the top bun slab.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted light butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and smoked paprika.
- Brush half of the herb glaze over the tops of the rolls. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes. Remove the foil, brush with the remaining glaze, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.
- Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust is a deep mahogany color.
